China has the highest suicide rate in the world. It has become the number one killer for people aged between 18 and 30. The Nanjing Yangtze River Bridge has become a place where many have come to end their lives. One man, Chen Si, has been patrolling the bridge for the past seven years trying to save the lives of those who wish to end it.
Chen Si earns about $300 USD a month. The community center that he runs costs him about $1000 USD per year, which he pays out of his own pocket. He supports his wife and daughter on the remainder. The community center, which is a place for survivors to stay while they get back on their feet, is a considerable financial burden for Chen Si’s family. We would like to do what we can to alleviate some of this stress on this man who does so much for others. It is our goal to help him pay for a year’s rent for his community center.
