Our Story
Welcome to ROUND 2 of our fund-raising campaign for All In The Game, Round One netted us about $1435.00 out of the $7,500.00 USD we were hoping to raise.
Although our goal was not reached we began filming on March 12th 2011 and have completed 1/5th of the script in 3 days.
All in the Game comes from Deadlands: The Rising and Deadlands 2:
Trapped writer/director Gary Ugarek and follows the path of one of East
Baltimore's most violent and methodical drug king pins and his quest for
complete dominance of the Baltimore Drug trade.
From Gary Ugarek
In 2010, while doing a guest appearance on the film Zombie Doomsday I
had the pleasure of meeting two aspiring local actors from Baltimore,
MD... Nelson Irizarry and Kelvin Page, after seeing their performance,
which was kept secret from the films cast, and how they controlled and
dominated the situation I set out to find a project to work with them
on... because as I said They really caught my eye with their work. Over
the past few months I kept in contact with Nelson and Kelvin and
approached them about this project which is inspired by HBO's The Wire.
When I pitched the initial idea, both were extremely elated and
immediately agreed to join the project.
Where it gets better... during a location scout with Nelson in East
Baltimore he turned me on to former Cast members of The Wire who were
eager to join the project. Former cast Members Chris Clanton (Savino)
and Micaiah Jones (Little Man) will now be joining the cast/production.
As a huge fan of HBO's The Wire and wanting to shoot in East Baltimore I
thought it would be a great idea to bring these cast members on the
production because it will give fans of The Wire another chance to see
them in action... They immediately got the vibe of what we are trying to
do and were happy to join on and as writer/director I am extremely
excited to have them aboard the production.
We will be shooting the production using DSLR videography. Which in English terms means using Digital Still Cameras that are able to shoot
in HD VIDEO such as the Canon Mark 5, Ti2, or the PENTAX K-X series.
The Impact
Why are we trying to raise the remaining $6,000.00 we need to complete the film. This production while confined
to two locations at a minimum, will be fairly cost effective in terms of
the production.
Our budget goal at this point is to be able to raise funds so we can file and obtain the proper
filming permits for when we shoot in the East Baltimore Vacants, (The abandon row homes on the cities East Side) which requires, Insurance, and a required Police presence at a cost of about $45.00 per hour, and also provide food and drinks for the largely volunteer cast & crew.
Everyone joining the project is working on a completely voluntary
basis for their time, but some of the key crew members are driving great
distances to help us out, so we want to be able to accommodate their
fuel uses and lodging during the shoot. Especially with fuel now near the $4.00 per gallon range.
We will also require the rental of power generators for our shoots on
the streets of Baltimore, especially in the blocks of the city where
the vacant homes stand, and of course one of our major budget needs is
make-up FX when showing how brutal life can be when you're in the game
and the consequences for your actions when being part of the drug trade.
The films largest FX set piece is a 7 page long torture scene between
our lead character and a member of the Italian crime family also
fighting for the same cause. This scene requires specific FX work and prosthetic's due to the extremely detailed nature of the scene.
What We Need & What You Get
We need to cover all of the expenses listed above. I
myself contributed $500.00 of my own money towards this project
for location rental and props used in the movie. Plus I wanted to show that I was 100% committed to making this project happen.
Money raised
will be spent on craft services, make-up FX, and grip/equipment rental,
as well as production insurance and the proper Baltimore city filming
permits..
