The Najeed Family has been in the rug business in Santa Barbara for over 25 years. The Story follows the days in the life of 5 friends, that work or at least hang out at Alhambra Rugs.
Yama, The typical Muslim in appearance, yet just the opposite. He loves, Ben and Jerry’s ice cream, Hip-hop and basketball and a jokester. Outspoken, he never shies away from a good conversation. He is also the only one married in the group.
Aida the matriarchal rock in the group and Yama’s wifey. She is Sincere and strong she is definitely the one that keeps the motley crew grounded. Totally independent as a Web designer, she finds the antics of the guys entertaining and doesn’t mind getting involved, usually egging the guys on for the sake of entertainment.
Abe is Yama’s long time friend since High School, and became Muslim shortly after. He is the white guy of the group, he loves Mos Def and free styling and also making his best friend Yama laugh at no expense.
Mustafa is Yama’s brother a little on the heavy side and, always on a superdooper diet. But , he makes up for it in business, for he is the actual owner of the rug store. Most of his life revolves around his Porsche and finding new places to eat. At times he wants to get out of the rug business and do something more fantastic, as he looks towards his friends talents to coin on.
Bro, is the cool black guy, that is at least on the outside. Bro, is the quiet one, yet adds insight to his surroundings through his narrative and flashbacks. Love sick he, is just looking for someone who shares his spirit. More or less a modern day flower child, he often attends tree huger meetings, surfs and thinks that his soul mate will walk through the door at anytime.
The show will also introduce others that they run into through out the day, from the mundane to out right hilarious.
