Every great story has a beginning, a middle, and an end. AUTUMN MIXTAPE is a collection of four short stories about four different relationships going through those stages.

Our first couple meet up one afternoon on the street. Connected by mutual friends, they recognize each other via pictures and stories, but this is the first time they’ve officially met. What starts off as an awkward conversation on a street corner between two strangers turns into an unforgettable date. Faced with the death of fall at the end of October, they decide to give it a grand farewell by experiencing everything good it has to offer in one night: candy apples, a costume party, riding bikes through leaves and making a perfect connection with someone entirely unexpected.

The second story finds a new couple in the longest, darkest night of their long term relationship. An admission of infidelity opens wide a crack in the foundation of everything they had built, and all that’s left are two broken people in a one room apartment, trying to work it out.

The third story is about a new couple, coworkers at a neighborhood bar, closing down after a late shift. He is working through the aftermath of being cheated on, and she’s a sympathetic ear. Over some celebratory end of the evening shots of Tequila, the two begin to blur and eventually erase the line that has kept their friendship and working relationship in tact.

The final story is about reconnecting. The couple in this story were high school sweethearts, fifteen years ago, before He moved away to college and broke off the relationship in the stupid way that teenage boys often do. A death in the family brings Her back to their hometown and the two are reunited for an evening at the local bar that extends into a long night of bittersweet memories, overdue apologies and passionate debates over hair metal and children’s television. It’s about discovering how far you’ve come by looking back at the person you had been. It’s about making peace with the scars you’ve left and the ones that others have left on you.

Set in a small midwestern town at the end of October, AUTUMN MIXTAPE is a one of a kind romantic comedy. If you have ever been in love, hopefully you’ll see yourself in it. If you haven’t been in love, hopefully it will make you want to jump in, head first.
