About Me
Elias Benavidez is an independent writer/director originally from Mesa, Arizona. After graduating with a BFA Degree in Media Arts at the University of Arizona, he moved to Los Angeles where he has gained film experience at Marvel Studios (Spider-Man 2, X-Men: The Last Stand, and Fantastic Four) and Zucker-Netter Productions (Scary Movie 3), and has also garnered professional theatre experience from the Broadway company PLUS Entertainment in New York City where he worked on Shout! The Mod Musical. Most recently, he learned the business side of the industry at the film agency Dattner & Dispoto (Benjamin Buttons Claudio Miranda, The Wrestlers Maryse Alberti), just finished working on the Jon Favreau film Cowboys & Aliens, and is currently working on Oren Moverman's Rampart. Creatively, he has directed several short films including Just Coffee (Puro Mexicano Film Festival), Park Bench (Cannes Film Festival, Paris Film Festival, Sedona International Film Festival), and most recently a French short entitled A Note to Etienne. He has also worked on several theatre productions including Scenes from an Execution and Romeo and Juliet.
