Our Story

A Very Lupe Xmas is a Live, Theatrical, Holiday Extravaganza brought to you by the award-winning company, Fault Line Theatre.  In the show, a South American immigrant with a heart of gold tries to put on a traditional holiday party, by hiring actors to portray the Wise Men to her Virgin Mary.  When the Wise Men take liberties with the script, and add their own cultural flair, Lupe loses it and fires each and every one of them.  So what happens in Act Two? Can Lupe continue without the Wise Men? Is the holiday season ruined? Or will it be A Very Lupe Xmas after all?  The show is an interactive party where the audiences gets treats (Timbits!), sings along to the Boney M medley, and is asked to help save the show.  We've produced the show on a smaller scale twice before to sold-out audiences, and now we want to make it bigger, bolder and more bawdy! 


The character Lupe has made a big impact in the city of Toronto (even interviewing our former mayor on Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WT6g8KafoFg).  A Very Lupe Xmas is the perfect holiday show: a funny, heartwarming show with a satirical bent; it gets everyone into the spirit of the season.  The show features a diverse cast of Toronto's hottest and funniest actors, and includes music, projections, and a Power Point presentation unlike any other you've seen.

The Impact

Your contribution to A Very Lupe Xmas means we get to compensate the amazing actors and designers who bring their magic to the show, and helps pay for our beautiful venue.  You are also helping us get the show to more people, through our publicity, marketing and outreach. We also give audience members a discount on their ticket if they bring a non-perishable food item for the local food bank -- in this way we can give back to our community in a really tangible way.  And you can help with that! 


What We Need & What You Get

Right now we need $2000 for publicity, $2000 for rehearsal space and several thousand dollars for Insurance and Admin fees.  We also need money for props (edible and not) and photography.  We are reaching out to various sources for funding, and have raised money for our venue and some creative fees already, but your help will be instrumental in bringing this show to audiences by getting the word out and making sure the creative team is adequately compensated.  If we don't raise this money, talented people will not get paid for their time and efforts, and we will be forced to scale back our publicity, and perhaps even the number of shows we do.  Help us bring this fun show to audiences and collect donations for the needy -- we want to raise the spirits of our community!
