The Inspiration :
Did you know that Marin County is widely known as the "breast cancer capital of the world?"

Inspired by the fact that her mom is two time breast cancer survivor, Susan Zelinsky has been producing Wine, Women & Song events, to celebrate life and raise funds to fight this disease for more than 13 years.
Since 1998, using music as a vehicle for change, Susan and a team of amazing conscious, creative people, have already raised over $100,000 for local breast cancer agencies. Breastival's proceeds go to "Zero Breast Cancer of Marin," which is working to discover the reason Marin has one of the highest, if not THE highest, rate of breast cancer in the world; and "To Celebrate Life Foundation" which serves our community with education, awareness and patient services.
2010 was the first year I had the honor of lending my singing abilities to this amazing community event. I was so inspired I asked Susan if my non-profit project, "A Vehicle for Change" could produce a calendar with photos of the event - she said "sure!"
Reason being, the show venue (19 Broadway) is small and the event usually sells out, limiting how much $ can be raised in one evening. Plus, some folks have expressed a desire to be able to contribute online...and every bit helps us to raise MORE awareness and funding to fight breast cancer.

The Celebration :
"2011 Rack & Roll Music Breastival!" also features performances by Jesse Brewster, Bonnie Hayes, Liz Pisco, Jay Trainer, Pink Sabbath, Lynn Asher, Loralee Christensen, John Merkl (SHINE), April & Monroe Grisman (THE 85's), Eileen Grady, Jessica Grace, Karla Downey, Jamison Smeltz, Tracy Blackman, Erika Alstrom, Pam Drummer-Williams, and recent breast cancer patient/survivor, Karey Gauthier.

The Creative Collaboration

This Breastival Comammarative Art Calendar will be printed locally, using recycled paper.
Produced by A Vehicle for Change, it will feature Trina Baucom's poster art (that cute pink bra poster is just a sample of her work) & Laura Kudritzki's Rack 'n Roll Breastival event photos (see a sample of her work above.) Plus, we'll include a monthly reminder to "check your breasts!"
We still haven't decided what form it will take - poster size, traditional flip style or a nifty desk calendar that fits in an old CD jewel case. Any or all three of those would work. Regardless of what shape they take, these will be handcrafted, limited edition labors of love for a great cause!

Our goal is to create a fine quality "mammento" of this event - and to increase the amount we can donate to the fine charities listed above!

The Donation :

Thanks to Fractured Atlas, A Vehicle for Change can offer you this opportunity to make a tax deductible donation online. So now, whether or not you can be in Marin, you can SUPPORT THE BREASTIVAL's effort to fight breast cancer!

In return, you'll receive good Karma, a warm fuZZy feeling a public thank you for being so awesome, aaaand... depending upon whether or not you choose to join us in this "trip down Mammary Lane" by choosing a calendar and/or a Wine, Women & Song CD, a portion or all of your donation will be tax deductible!

This campaign runs through October 31st!  November, we go into design and production! ALL funders will receive updates during the production phase  - and have the option to purchase more calendars (depending upon availability) at a discounted rate for Holiday gift giving! How FUN is THAT?!

We need a minimum of $500 to produce and print enough to say "Thanks for the great mammaries!" to our volunteers. The more we raise, the more we can do to expand this event's reach - through the power of music and art. Some artists have expressed a desire to do another CD. This is what A Vehicle for Change is all about!

PERKS : All funders to this campaign will receive links to Breastival performances - and receive FIRST news about future recordings by the artists involved in the project.
