Our Story

First came the calendar.

Sherra said, "Let's make a calendar".  She had the idea to showcase local female comedians and improvisers as classic pin ups in a calendar we could sell to raise money for a good cause.

Then came the show

Jess said, "Let's do a show". She had the idea to have all of those female comedians and improvisers come together for one night to showcase their talents and support the cause. And it would be a great place to sell the calendars.

Then came the Cause

Sherra and Jessica talked about things that matter to them. Being women, the well-being of other women is something that really matters to both of them. So they did some research and found Family Rescue, an organization that is dedicated to eliminating domestic violence in the Chicago community.

Many Facebook messages, texts, and cups of coffee later, Laughing for a Change was born!

The Impact

Our goal is to use this night of laughter to raise money for a cause that we strongly believe in.

Ticket sales from the benefit show Laughing for a Change

On December 11, 2011 we will present our show Laughing for a Change. It is a night where stand up comedians, improvisers, and YOU will come together to raise money for Family Rescue. You are invited to an evening of entertainment provided by funny women representing various shows you love to watch right here in Chicago. In addition to the show, there will also be a raffle of donated prizes from local businesses. You can visit various tables of fun things to do, such as getting your tarot cards read or viewing a magic trick. There will be a kissing booth for the singles out there, and for the couples, strategically placed mistletoe.  And of course Santa is coming!

Laughing For A Change will take place on Sunday December 11th at The Pub Theater above Fizz Bar and Grill (3220 N. Lincoln).  Tickets will be $12 and can be purchased online at ThePubTheater.com, over the phone at 773-904-8777, by donating $50 or more to our indiegogo, or in person at the door.

Prizes include tickets to various comedy shows in town including Second City, Bye Bye Liver, iO, a professional photo shoot including makeup artist, jewelry, artwork, and various gift cards from local businesses for yummy treats.
