The Story

In a distant future, mankind has transformed into a society completely reduced to the intellect. Living in an obscure system of immense spaces, people can only be distinguished from one another by their different social positions,  as in a beehive.
The inhabitants only goal is producing light. But only one among them has this ability. For this he is admired, exploited and kept under control ...

Commentary by director Bidzina Kanchaveli

My intention is to add to the science-fiction genre something new. Science-fiction interests me very much. This genre can offer almost unlimited new perspectives. It pulls the viewer out of his everyday life and lets him think about the fact that there is more outside of the habitat in which he is imprisoned.
"1000 KINGS" will have lyrical but also dark moments. It will have some scary moments and certainly possess dark humor. It will show violence, but also love.
Like life. I want to tell a timeless and universal story.

How we arrived until here

"1000 KINGS" is carried by the commitment and the enthusiasm of the makers. Those are the ones who invest their know-how, their professionalism and their time in this feature film and its postproduction.

All the people involved in the project work on a 100% defered fee basis. Therefore we only need for this project a comparatively small cashpolster for insurance, rents , equipment and operating costs.

We know that such a radical financing modell is not possible for everybody. Therefore we build a crew and a cast with a mix of professionals above 30, who can afford such an adventure, and those under 30, looking for challenge.

The key positions are occupied by experienced professionals, who know what they do and what they want.

Where we want to go

We are pursuing an international release in cinemas, on televisions, and in festivals, starting with one A-Festival like the international film-festival in Berlin, Cannes, Venice or at the Sundance film festival.

"1000 KINGS" is designed for the science-fiction fans and the arthouse audience: curious, emotional und intellectually open-minded spectator. In this genre, there is a desire for something new !
