Our Story

The deep woods. A girl - alone. And an unstoppable killer...Think you've seen it before. Think Again.

"SPREE" is a high-octane, horror, chase-thriller. Imagine you are watching the last 10-minutes of an '80's slasher film done with today's techniques and technology.

Full of thrills and surprises, this movie not only delivers on the level of a spine-tingling horror film, it also tells a great story!

The Impact

Dozens of young Canadian filmmakers will be working on this picture. Many will be learning a new craft within the trade - it's a great chance for people to grow. Not only that, as for myself, it's an opportunity to begin my career as a visual story teller. As the author of more than 7 screenplays, and 5 television pilots, including 2 for the "Star Trek" television franchise for CBS, I can tell you, the best way to get people's attention is to SHOW THEM SOMETHING FIRST.

While "SPREE" is not intended to be the shorter version of a longer film to come, it is intended to show my abilities as a director, and the kind of films I want to make. Eventually I'd like to make every kind of movie - action, horror, drama, thriller, comedy, hey- even children's films. But you have to start somewhere...

What We Need & What You Get

"SPREE" is being created under the auspices of ACTRA, the Canadian actor's union. Why, you say? Why not "Go indie", and make it for nothing? Because we, the filmmakers, are ACTRA members, and want to make a film of the highest professional quality. While that "do what you have to, get it out there" spirit is one we greatly admire, we all have to admit, that it produces a mountain of garbage films from a multitude of untalented people.  All the good intentions in the world don't sound better than a 5.1 surround sound mix.

Also, making a film the way the pros do is the only way to step up to the pros level. That means borrowing money, getting insurance and permits, feeding your cast and crew, etc, etc All those things cost money.

The F/X make-up budget alone is $2500.00 dollars. We've already spent around $1000.00 on the admin costs.

So if you ask, "where is the money going?" - Simple. It's going into the movie!

Other Ways You Can Help

If there are other filmmakers out there, who want to promote their stuff here in Toronto, we can help with that. Remember the hardest thing about being a professional filmmaker is getting started - say you've got some money, but can't get your film started, like you have no connections etc, well, give us money to make ours, and we'll be your connections when you are ready to start yours.  If there are Toronto rock bands into cross-promoting their gigs with our campaign, we could do that too!
